Absolutely gorgeous and wonderfully theatrical vintage red skirt, believed to be by Christchurch designer Jan Marie Cooke.

Although the skirt has no label, it came to us together with another confirmed Jan Marie Cooke skirt, and the design, construction and beautifully detailed finish strongly suggest it may be one of her creations.

The skirt features a fabulous flared fishtail silhouette, with layers of tulle underneath giving the fishtail plenty of structure and allowing it to sit beautifully away from the body.

The rich red fabric is made up of contrasting satin, silk and polyester segments, with gorgeous embroidered polka dots and floral details adding texture and visual interest throughout.

To finish it off, there is a fabulous pinstriped rosette, which is attached with a pin and can be removed or worn according to your styling.

Jan Marie Cooke was a prominent Christchurch fashion designer whose label was introduced through the boutique Posh in 1991. Her work was featured in Christchurch fashion press during the early 1990s, and she was later awarded Eveningwear Designer of the Year at the 2004 Canterbury Fashion Awards for Posh of Holmwood.
