FANNY BUSS HANDPRINTED DRESS | 12/14

An original Fanny Buss hand-printed in what we suspect is a silk fabric velvet dress, created in Christchurch by renowned New Zealand textile and fashion designer Fanny Buss (1910–1986).

In a rich mustard/golden colour, the dress features a beautiful hand-printed design, button-through front and luxurious velvet fabric. Fanny Buss was known for her distinctive hand-printed textiles and became one of New Zealand's best known textile and fashion designers. Her work began in the 1950s and developed into a successful Christchurch fashion business, with garments now held in collections including Te Papa Tongarewa.

This dress is a lovely example of New Zealand textile and fashion history, reflecting Fanny Buss's characteristic combination of individually printed fabric and elegant garment design.

Condition: Good vintage condition. One front button is missing and could potentially be replaced. There is also a small black mark/dot at the waist, which may be part of the original printing.
